YOUR HELP IS NEEDED

to set the tables for Mississauga families this Thanksgiving.

Message from Chris

What does the Thanksgiving season mean to you?

Just like you, I see Thanksgiving as a time to be grateful, to reflect on life's gifts, and to enjoy time (and food) with my family.

Because I lead The Mississauga Food Bank, I have an inside view on hunger in our city. For every reason we have to be grateful, there's a neighbour struggling to set their table.

This Thanksgiving, you can help neighbours like Gary
who have suffered a disability and aren't able to work,
or others
who work hard at low-paying jobs and just
can't make ends meet.

Your generous gift will provide wholesome, nutritious
food to hungry children, families and seniors. $2 is all it
takes to provide 5 meals.

It truly takes all of us working together to ensure no one in Mississauga goes hungry.

With my best wishes for a Happy Thanksgiving,

Chris Hatch, Executive Director

Gary's Story

Gary worked as a stonemason for 25 years. He truly loved his job. Working with his hands every day, he was was strong and capable. Then a few years ago, Gary broke his ankle, had two reconstructive surgeries, and just hasn’t been ‘right’ ever since. He went from making good money to having very little of it.

Government disability support pays the rent and bills, but there’s nothing left for food. Suddenly, Gary went from a man capable of constructing a beautiful building to a man incapable of putting food on his own table.

“I was kinda embarrassed the first time I came here, but I had nowhere to go.”

Gary is not alone. His life has taken an unexpected turn and now he must rebuild his life. But he has the food bank to turn to.

Together, we can help Gary and so many others like him get back on their feet. We make a huge difference this Thanksgiving. Generous friends of the food bank like you are helping neighbours throughout Mississauga.
